Confessions

I will start with a confession of sorts. I haven't read each and every update that has come across my Multiply screen. I have checked some of them out, but certainly not all. Nothing personal mind you, but even with my limited number of contacts, the number of updates is somewhat overwhelming, so I have taken a discerning approach to how I approach the updates. Most calendar stuff I will pass on, unless something catches my eye. Similarly, I will not comment on everything I view. Don't take it personally, I just have a tendency to not comment if I can't add anything of merit.

Likewise, those people that do comment on my page, I will make a run by their page just to see what is what. Simply put, I want my page connect to people that I respect, even if I do not agree with them. So, in that regard, I will gladly have 20 "good" contacts versus 320 "bad" ones. Prime example, I was asked to add someone the other day, so I went and checked out the page. I proceeded to read how all liberals are socialists and blah blah freaking blah. That stuff may have an outlet somewhere, it just will not be here. Same goes for people who call conservatives fascists. There is a time and a place, and while I can't tell you what the time will be, I can tell you that the place isn't here. There is a reason I brought the Giamatti quote over from my 360 page to the top of the Multiply page. Certainly I am not closing the page to debate, far from it, I am just closing the page to unreasoned debate.

Okay, with that out of the way, lets get to the good stuff shall we. I am not sure how many of you listen to sports talk on the radio. I tend to like the call in shows, especially where the hosts make a complete fool of themselves out of sheer homerism. Saturday before I went into work, I was listening to the post game show of the Pitt Panthers game, another loss, this time 20-16 to Rutgers. The host of the show started bemoaning a call late in the game, a touchdown pass that would have given Pitt the lead but was called back due to offensive pass interference. Then he started ticking off the close losses the Panthers had this year, to Michigan State, Navy, Rutgers, Louisville and proceeded to say that with a couple of breaks, Pitt could be 8-2 instead of 4-6. Well, hell, my aunt is just a penis away from being my uncle, but that doesn't make her almost my uncle.

Speaking of jobs, I survived the first week on two job employment. I forgot how tiring it can be. Luckily, my shift doesn't start until 6pm most nights so I can get a really deep sleep of a nap between jobs, which is good, because on the busy nights, I can't see me getting out before 1am. On slower nights probably 12:30am, which is the same time I would get out of Subway, but it looks like I will be working the two busiest nights, Thursday and Friday, pretty much every week, save for the coming one with Thanksgiving on Thursday (we are closed) and Friday I am working at the station doing high school football, where I hope to make an extra few bucks. The other cool thing about the new job is that I start at .50 more an hour than I was making at Subway, and after 30 days it will go up another .50. Coin is always good this time of year, because I still have Christmas shopping to do. I haven't even put together this year's version of the list. I will post it when it is complete, much as it is a family tradition of sorts, it will become a blog tradition as long as I have a blog.

The only bad thing about the new gig is that it will pull me off of guesting on Doug's show on Fridays. I will miss that, but at the same time, I need cash more than I need any self promotion.

BY way of cash, I guess I can do a change meter update while I am here. Another .08 gets added to the total so it is now $33.22. Finding money is a lot like finding sex, it seems I find more when I have money in my pocket, when I am poor, I can't find anything, similarly, it seems the chances for sex increase once I am attached, when I am not attached, those opportunities tend to dry up as well, and right now if women were like water, my life would indeed be the desert.

Okay, I have blogged enough for one day, time to nuke a couple of dogs and watch some West Wing on DVD. Before I forget, the Brothers Krongard are the Asshats of the Week. Just who are the Brothers Krongard? As much as they sound like a circus act they are not, but you will have to stay tuned to find out who exactly they are.

  2. My number of contacts has shrunk compared to 360, but that's ok I can at least keep up with updates better now, although I do miss a few as people are still importing old blog entries.

I read a story on the Krongard brothers today, I think I have a fair idea why you have picked them lol.

Hmmm lost half of my comment... I also said I do enjoy listening to the radio sports round up on a sunday morning in the winter. the presenters argue amongst themselves & with the talk back callers, it makes for a good radio show.

Glad the new job is going well.

  4. OK this blog had me really amused. I also read a lot of blogs but don't always comment unless I have something interesting to say. Of course by my own estimation everything I say is interesting to me...but I digress.

"my aunt is just a penis away from being my uncle, but that doesn't make her almost my uncle." Good lord, Matt, I nearly spit coffee out across my keyboard. I don't know why but this had me cracking up.
