Multiply 365 Day 244 - Bigger than my stomach

Let me make this clear, I don't do doggy bags. I am not one to walk into a restaurant and order something then end up taking it home. Just not the way I roll. Maybe it has something to do with my upbringing, where you could eat as much as you wanted for dinner, but you had to clean your plate. If you asked for it, you became responsible for making it disappear. Which is why today I am ashamed.

I have often talked about my breakfast exploits on here, breakfast sundaes and giant plates of food. Not that I do that every day, 5 or 6 days out of the week I don't even eat breakfast, so on the days that I do it is something of an event. Usually it is a trip to Deluca's or Pamela's, with an occasional trip to a place like King's or Eat N Park. Last week though I made a return trip to Jo Jo's, a place I had visited once and liked, but never really made it back. So last week I went again, had the eggs, sausage and homefries and it was a large place, the homefries took up half the plate, three eggs were involved in the festivities and the sausage patty almost covered half of the plate as well. It was a task to eat it all, but I managed and then made my way into work, where I put in a five hour day or so.

Well today I decided to head back there, for two reasons. One was Sammy hadn't been there yet and unlike last week, he was coming to breakfast with me. The second was an item on the menu called the Jo Jo's omelet. I had heard of this creation, and figured if I could tackle a Steel City Breakfast at Deluca's, I could certainly handle an omelet. I was sadly mistaken.

Perhaps I should have went websearching ahead of time and gotten this warning....

This magnificent thing is a three-egg omelet filled with mushrooms, peppers, and caramelized onions, your choice of meat (hot or sweet sausage, or ham), cheddar cheese, and hash browns. Then they drop the sucker on top of a base of their crispy, delicious hash browns. It really isn't meant to be eaten by one person in one sitting. Share one with someone you love.”

I couldn't do it, I got about halfway through and had to do the unthinkable and ask for a to go box. But on the bright side, I think I have breakfast for tomorrow as well.

  6. I am the doggie box queen. When my daughter was little it was perfect I could order 1 meal and 2 drinks. Now because there is the no meal sharing thing at most restaurants she and I order 2 meals and take home 2 boxes. What we bring home takes up more then one box and for each of us we have at least one, if not more then one meal. I was good with the 3 eggs, meat, mushrooms, peppers and onions. Then I read they add home fries to the mix. That took it past filling to box please. It sounds good though.

  7. It was good, I just finished the second half of it. The potatoes are the killer, they have potaoes in the omelet, then the whole thing is laid on top of another bed of potatoes. No wonder my stomach said enough yesterday morning. It was very good (even the microwaved version this morning) but it will be a while before I try tackling that thing again.
