Hiati

First off we have some

************         Breaking News    ************

Oprah Winfrey is fat!!!!!!

I know you probably had a vague idea this was the case, but the media have been stumbling all over themselves the last few days to tell us that a woman that has been fat for most of her existence in the public consciousness is, in fact, still fat.  With investigative journalism like this, I can't wait till they get to the mystery of who is buried in Grant's tomb.

Let's move on to some less obvious topics shall we?  Someone out there is bound to wonder just what the hell the jibberish is that is passing for a title.  For those that haven't figured it out, it is the scientific plural of hiatus, or it could just be me mangling the English language again, who knows.  Still there are many hiati to get to when starting this blog, including one Blunt Force Trauma blog related to a recent Asshat.

The Blunt Force Trauma blog is on hiatus until Multiply lets me know what has happened to the last attempted entry in that category.  Since the link is still on my page, I don't want to type another 10.0 and find the old one can be recovered, and since I did kind of like the title to the last one, we all are going to take a number and wait for Multiply customer support to get back to me on whether they can either retreive the entry, or at least delete the link so I don't end up with two BFT 10.0s on my page.

My fantasy hockey team also went on hiatus, going 0-10 last week and there is aboslutely nothing good I can take from that.  If it weren't for the fantasy football team having a playoff game this weekend, I would be suffering from fantasy depression, which is alot like real depression, but in a make believe kind of way. I did finish with the third seed in the fantasy football playoffs, I won in the last week of the regular season, but only by a 97-96 margin which left me tied for the best record in the league with 3 other teams, all of us finishing at 10-4, but by virtue of points scored I got the #3 spot for playoff seeding purposes.

My sole job employemnt hiatus is about to come to an end.  On application #17, which wasn't an application so much as it was visiting a place I had worked in the past and asking if they were still looking for help.  They told me to leave my name and number and come back in a couple of days if they didn't call.  Well I went back last Saturday and they told me to come in on Friday of this week and they would have me on the schedule.  There is something to be said for always having an ace in the hole when job seeking, a place that you know you can go back to and make some money until something better comes along.  Of course since I agreed to take the gig, I naturally finally got a call back on one of my other 16 applications yesterday while I was out and about.  They wanted me to come in for an interview this morning, I may call them back this afternoon when I get home and see if they have time either Thursday or Friday for such an interview, but given I didn't get the message till late yesterday and they would have wanted me there by 1pm today, which would be a stretch with me getting off at 12:30pm from my full time gig, it is better if I just try to reschedule if possible.  If it isn't, I still have employemnt waiting, so I am not sweating it too much.

Still more on the hiatus front, this time the change meter, which I haven't updated since late October and with good reason.  I just haven't found anything.  I can honestly say since then I have found a whopping total of 8 cents, so technically the new total is $39.31, but my dreams of hitting $40 by Christmas have been replaced with hitting $40 by next Christmas.  The only redeeming thing is, while I haven't been finding money, I have been finding soda caps still with some regularity.  Even yesterday, on what I would consider a typical day, I managed to find one cap on a Sprite bottle and a code on a 24 pack of Wild Cherry Pepsi.  I am at the point with Pepsi that I am just trying to burn through what caps I find since the clock is ticking there.  I doubt I would come up with the requisite points to get anything overly cool, so I am just going to spend the rest of whatever points I encounter on music until closedown day on the 31st.  Coke I am still holding out on, if I pull another 100 points I will buy another month of Pogo, but the Pogo stuff is just temporary as it too will end at the end of the month, but since the Coke Rewards thing is going on for 2009, there is no rush to blow points all willy nilly.  Plus, as long as they are taking codes, I guess that means I can continue to give away free stuff on my page from time to time as well.

I guess I should note that I am again blogging from work, or at least starting this blog from work.  We will see about when I finish it, as I do have some errands to run today and I am still babysitting the equipment in order to see what is and isn't working for my upcoming vacation.  So far only a couple of smallish bugs in the system this morning, so we are getting closer to having this work flawlessly, then again, it is a computer so flawless is subjective.  We are on the air though, I guess that is what matters most.  Funny thing though, the last few days have been warmer, actually in the 50s then today came and it looks like all of the more comfortable temps will once again be leaving us.  When I got to work at 5am this morning, it was 54 outside, here it is 6 and a half hours later and one would think it would get warmer as the day progressed, but not here, it's now 38 and rainy.  Blech and double blech.

I still have to run some errands after work, I want to get some sugar so I can continue in my iced tea making ways.  Not only is it tasty, but cheaper than soda, which is my fallback caffienated beverage after 12pm most days.  Still, there is little more refreshing than a nice cold glass of iced tea, with no lemon thank you.  I don't know who started that whole crap of putting fruit in beverages, but they really need to stop it.  If I wanted fruit that much, I would just buy fruit, so keep that cherry or lemon shit out of my Pepsi, don't go telling me about the latest trendy fruit beer and do not go putting lemon in my iced tea.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I have made it home since my last part of this blog, tinkered around with Pogo a bit, getting the Word Whomp badge they offered this week.  Neither of the badges look all that difficult, just time consuming as is most of the badges.  I haven't picked a personal yet, I may not as I haven't been doing them since the special badge for Thanksgiving was offered, I'd rather play the games I like than be forced into a game I don't care for all that much, and most of my remaining badges fall into that category.  Stupid things like ranked games of backgammon and Squelchies have little appeal for me.   Rather I would do some word searches or work on my next badge in Aces Up or something.  Rather I would, WTF is that, did I start taking typing lessons from Yoda?.

Anyway, I did manage to fetch me some sugar and a couple of loaves of bread.  I was hoping someone might turn them into fishes so I would have something better to eat, but such was not the case, so I just made some elbow macaroni with chili instead.

I managed to track down a friends blog today, which was good because I had been menaing to see what was up and he had an intersting post about allowing versus not allowing comments to the page.  For the most part the commenters around here have been freindly, I have only had to delete a couple idiots in my days here, so for me it isn't a problem of participation, instead I liken it to my chosen profession of radio.  You can do a competent radio show, either with or without callers and it really is up to the indivdual blogger how they would like to do it.  If you think you can entertain the masses with your content alone, then there really is no need to take comments, you are telling a story and the story stands by itself.  On the other hand if you are more of a freelancer like myself and you enjoy the give and take, even with those that disagree with you, then comments can be a good thing because they forced you to wrap your mind around things you may not have considered.  That being said there is a line with bme between disagreeing and being disagreeable and I am not sure if it is definitively marked anywhere, rather it is like the Supreme Court and porn, I know it when I see it and once that line is crossed, then I will send you home with some lovely parting gifts like a years supply of Rice A Roni and maybe some Turtle Wax and you won't be heard from on my page again.

I was going to sit down here and watch the Penguins game tonight on Yahoo, but recently they have been paying more attention (bastages!) to their job and blacking the games out.  It is what they are supposed to do in markets where the teams are from, due to broadcast rights and all of that jazz, but for the first few weeks of the season they hadn't been doing it and I was hoping against hope they would forget about it completely but they haven't, they were just slow on the uptake and the last few games have come up as being blacked out in the local area.  I can still get my hockey fix from them, just not for Penguin games.  The other night I was watching the Los Angeles kings, the video quality on theior broadcasts is really good by internet standards.  For all of the things I complain about them for, they at least get that one right usually.

Well I better scoot before this gets any longer, content in the knowledge that once again I have said nothing in a longish sort of fashion.  Besides, there is another hockey game coming on in a bit, and I might just stay up and watch it.

  1. That was hilarious the few bits of humor. I think we may get our news from similar sources. I too found the oprah thing just stupid. I did laugh at your statement on it though. Anyway i have lost my thought when typing from my tiny screen so talk to you later or something along those lines

  2. I wasn't sure the other day whether to try & intervene when that guy (who isn't even one of my contacts) had a shot at you on my thread. I figured you were big enough & ugly enough to stick up for yourself lol.

  6. Usually I will add the elbows when I am short on chili and long on hunger, last night I had about half a can of Hormel that I had been using for chili dogs, but since I had no hot dogs I had to find another use for it. As well as Cindy making it, there are a few places around town that use chili as a pasta topping, I know Steak and Shake does and I am pretty sure you can get it at Spaghetti Warehouse as well. I did it last week with the last of the homemade chili I put together, which just made for one extra day of eye watering pain for anyone standing behind me.

  7. I guess the whole deal was that she apparently admitted now to being fat and not eating healthy. So one is left to believe that despite her vast amounts of wealth, she apparently couldn't afford a mirror as I don't seem to see anyone else that is shocked by this suddent realization. Oprah claimed that she was trying to eat well but had fallen off the wagon. Whoa right there, it is one thing to fall off the wagon, it is another to fall off the wagon and then eat it as it rolls by. It's one thing to have a piece of cake after dinnner and feel guilty that you had it, it's another to turn your house into your own personal Old Country Buffet and then be shocked that you are fatter for your effort. The only thing funnier than being shocked by that revelation is the media's blinders as treating this as news, as if finding the fat rolls on Oprah was recovering the Lost Ark of the Convenant, which may be the case if she ate it, but otherwise is a matter of the media being the master of the obvious and not much more.

  8. No need to intervene, though the problem with arguing with a conspiracy theorist is that everything is a conspiracy and if you try to debunk it, then you are just part of the conspiracy and you don't know any better. To them Occam's Razor is something Occam used to shave with, so instead of dealing in facts they deal in speculation and half truths. It is easier for them to say that the Trade Center was a controlled explosion because it looked like one, rather than be forced to then explain just how the amount of explosives needed to pull off such a demolition would have been put there in the first place with no one knowing, likewise it is easy for them to say that a missile must have hit the Pentagon because of the hole in the building, all the while dismissing the hundreds of eyewitness accounts of people on the freeway and and a neighboring hotel that morning, because being there and witnessing the event isn't the same as looking at the damage and knowing conclusively just what happened.
If I was hard on Alex Jones, it is because he deserves to have someone be hard on him, if all he is going to do is peddle in conspiracies then someone has to hold him accountable, sadly the internet is full of people that instead of asking for accountability will just accept it as so because he said it. I was equally hard on the nutbag Jerome Corsi over at World Net Daily, who was hawking the whole North American Union nonsense, which he decided a couple of months ago now wasn't going to happen, but that is okay because he was off to recover Obama's Kenyan birth certificate now. If one conspiracy doesn't pan out, rather than question the judgement that led you to the conclusion, it is easier just to move to the next one.

  9. lmao @ eating it as it rolls over you! well you cant argue with that! what blew my mind is that she has more money than God and she has the ability to hire personal chefs to help her eat properly. But I guess she's the one who does the menus. Anyway I have never really seen her thin. And i have seen her on air for years and years. All I know of Oprah is that shes' got a mass cult following and she's overly emotional! I did watch her when I was a stay at home mom though. I think thats just what stay at homes do. watch oprah and dont follow the advice that comes from the show. But why would I follow somoene who cant practice what they preach! God I'm glad I didnt now because then i'd be 200lbs over weight and unable to hold a job! christ that wouldnt be good. anyway back to work for me. well actually off to lunch for me. have a fantastic rest of your week.
