I have teased on this blog a few times about doing a giveaway regarding the Coke Reward points I collect. The stipulation at that time was I had to reach the famous 2000 point plateau, because the most expensive prize in the Coke Rewards contest is that value. Mind you, I will state flat out that the prize I am giving away will not be worth 2000 points, just that should the tentative prize disappear from the Coke catalog before August 16th, I will come up with a replacement prize so something will indeed be given away, and I will have the entire Coke catalog at my disposal to find an adequate replacement prize..
So just what will the prize be you may ask? The prize will be an all expenses paid free year of Pogo.com, with a street value of $39.99. I am unsure of whether or not the prize is transferable in foreign countries (say Pogo.uk for instance) but if it isn't and the winner happens to not reside in the United States, they can do with the prize whatever they see fit, give it to a friend, auction it off on eBay, etc. Once the prize is out of my hands I care not to where it ends up, I have officially lived up to my end of the bargain.
The question then remains how can the prize be won? Very simply by going back to the oldest running feature on this blog, the change meter. For those not in the know, the change meter is a running tally of the amount of money I find while out and about. I pick up change from pretty much everywhere (much like Coke points in that regard) and it all gets added to a running tally I call the change meter. Over the course of a few years now the meter has reached a cumulative total of $171.12 as of July 24th, 2010. The winner of the prize of free Pogo for a year will be the person who comes closest, either above of below, the actual total the change meter will stand at on August 16th, 2010. Rest assured I can guarantee it will not be $171.12, as I have been adding to the total since then.
The rules will be simple, one entry per person, no multiple guesses and cheaters will be disqualified. All entries must be in the comment section of this thread on Multiply only. While this entry will appear on my Facebook page and everyone from there is able to win (just as, in theory, anyone on the planet could win), the actual winning entry must be from this page (I am not fumbling through half a month of updates on Facebook to find a winner). If there is a tie between two entries, the first posted correct entry will be the winner and second place will be the first loser. I will contact said winner through their Multiply ID via message on how they can claim their prize should they win and will also announce via a blog post here on Multiply of who the contest winner actually is.
I think that should just about cover all of the legal mumbo jumbo. Like I said, the contest is open to everyone (save for the assclowns I blocked from this page many moons ago) so let the games begin.

Hi Matt! It's Ali Cat from facebook :) I guess that the total will be 186.42 :) awesome Idea too, I think I might start one of these myself.
ReplyDeleteWelcome aboard, I dumb lucked my way into a ton of caps because we had a store close, leaving us with a bunch of outdated product, so I know getting the points will not be a problem. My only issue is that Coke only allows 120 points redeemed a week, and I am just short of being able to complete it is a week, so it will take two instead, but that allows some time more time for entries, or for people to edit their entries.
ReplyDelete$189.23 :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to work out how someone could cheat.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is $191.22
Well they could post more than one guess here, or if they were really bored they could open multiple Multiply accounts, which would be quite sad actually, I don't have nearly that kind of time on my own hands. Hell I am lucky if I even get out the occasional blog entry.
ReplyDeletehadn't even occurred to me.
