B365V3.47 - Working lunches

So Friday at work I got to pull off one of those business lunches.  They are such a rarity for me, that when they do happen I kind of enjoy them.  Now this isn't a traditional business lunch where you go sit down with professional people and haggle, barter, negotiate over minutiae, rather it was just me eating a sandwich outside of work and getting paid for it.  Perhaps I might explain.
Ed made it back from his Florida hiatus about two weeks ago (he has already left again,so I must be doing something right) and over the course of those two weeks I only got yelled at once.  Not that Ed yells a lot, but usually when he reappears he comes up with back checklist of things not done to his standard, then I get a lecture on it.  This time what set him off was something I warned my crew about repeatedly, which is if Ed stops in on the weekend, the first thing he is going to check is the Little Debbie snack cakes, next he will get a french vanilla cappuccino so make sure those areas are always neat in case he stops in, which he usually does before or after a trip to the casino.  Sure enough, his first Sunday back he stops in on his way to the casino and where does he go first but the Little Debbie cakes, which were not straightened up.  That sets him off in a tizzy, the next day I get a lecture on everything not done right.  If people would just listen to me once in a while, I think I know what the fuck I am talking about.

Anyway, on to my business lunch, on Friday I was informed we needed more labels for our deli scale.  As the only management type with a modicum of internet skills (in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king) I had ordered our last set of labels from Amazon so I new how to get new ones, but I wasn't coming out of pocket for a $45 purchase.  Sorry, just not independently wealthy.  So I told Ed that I could order some, what the cost was and he told me to go ahead.  He even offered me the company credit card.  Yeah, that's what I need, the company credit card on my Amazon account.  I can see the bill now, Matt what are these amazon video porn charges doing on the company credit card.  Some temptation is better left untested.  Instead I took the money needed from work and headed off to Giant Eagle after work.  I made the trip to Giant Eagle because I needed to use the Coinstar machine.  The cool thing about Coinstar is you can buy Amazon gift cards with no additional charge, just pick the gift card you need, put in the amount you want and presto chango, it becomes a gift card.  So I got my $45 gift card, then walked down the street to the Squirrel Cage to grab some lunch.  After ordering, I took my gift card slip, entered the code into my Amazon account (brought the company Jetpack with me, it's so nice having wifi no matter where I go) then went into my previous orders and reordered the case of labels.  I favor using gift cards on Amazon simply because I am paranoid about my debit card being hacked online, so I don't give them that info.  Since I was doing work, I consider my lunch billable hours.

Ed's visit wasn't all about billable hours and Little Debbie snack cakes however.  And if things pan out the way I want them to, I may be in need of a partner in crime in Feb.  I say partner in crime, most of my Facebook peeps know this means I have extra tickets to something.  One of the things Ed did while he was back was negotiate the new 7 Up contract.  3 more years, pretty much the same terms as the last one with one slight change, our Consol Energy Center allotment of tickets went up from $1600 a year to $1800 a year.  Ed asked me if there was anything I wanted to go to, I jokingly said the Pens home opener would be nice, but chances I would get tickets to the Stanley Cup banner raising I knew were going to be between slim and none.  I was right too, Brian McGee from 7 Up told me he couldn't help on that particular night, so ed told me to pick another night.
So now I am looking through the schedule to see which game I would want to see that no one else would want to see (I am shooting to sit in the box after all, doing the free booze, free eats thing) that I would like to see.  I found my date, Feb 14th to be precise, not as a Valentine's sort of thing, I am content being single after all, but it is the night the Vancouver Canucks come to town and anyone who know me knows I love the city of Vancouver.  If ever there were a place that I would want to be, where I would be at peace with being me, it would be there.  I love that city so much.   Since I can't go there (at least until next summer)why not have there come to me for a night?  Now hopefully everything pans out and the game is available.
